SATURDAY 14 JULY
BLUEBELL RAILWAY & LEWES
This time we are off to Sussex and the famous Bluebell Railway which featured in ‘The Railway Children’ and more recently ‘Downton Abbey’. Our coach takes us to Sheffield Park station where we will board the 11am train to Kingscote, where we will  have a 20minute stop before returning in time for lunch.
Either bring your own which you can eat in the picnic area down by the river or buy lunch in the Bessemer Arms restaurant near the station. After lunch our coach will take us the few miles to Lewes,
a quaint town on the River Ouse with a castle at its’ centre,
from the top of which spectacular views of Sussex can be seen.
The town has various and interesting attractions.  Arts and Crafts centres, antiques, museums such as Ann of Cleves House and Barbican museum. Certainly enough to occupy us for the afternoon. 
£21 members,  £23 guests (includes cost of train ride)
Coach leaves Maldon 8.00am arrives back around 7.00pm

          SATURDAY 15th SEPTEMBER     
A DAY AT HEVER CASTLE
Join us for the day at Hever Castle, Kent, where all sorts of things will be going on!  A lovely castle in beautiful grounds, the childhood home of Anne Bolyen. Loads to see inside the castle. Taking place on the day will be a ‘Celebration of Country Living’ with everything you need to enjoy ‘The Good Life’. Lots of demonstrations. eg. trugmakers, basket weavers and felt makers. Also sample food and drink from local producers and for the more ambitious, experts will be on hand to advise you how to keep bees and hens!
Also the popular annual exhibition of patchwork and quilting.
Apart from all this there are the usual attractions of Hever itself, woodland and lakeside walks, the Tudor, Italian and rose gardens and the miniature model houses exhibition.
For the more adventurous, you can hire a boat on the lake or find your way round the maze.
Bring a picnic or eat in either of the two restaurants in the grounds.
Coach leaves Maldon 9.00am arrives back around 6.30pm
